Princess Diana Continued..

In 1981 she married Queen Elizabeth II's son and heir Charles Windsor, the Prince of Wales. For the next 16 years Diana was rarely out of the news. Her pictures appeared in countless magazines. Her work for charity and other good causes was reported at length, and so, more controversially, were the details of her private life. She became one of the World's best-known women. Many believed her to be one of the most beautiful. She helped many organizations, "The Busy Charity Worker."
After reading this book I think the theme is that you can use your popularity for beneficial purposes. In the text it said, "Diana also gave her name, as patron or president, of many different organizations, ranging from the National Children's Orchestra to the Pre-School Playgroups Association and Help the Aged." It also says, "She served these organizations not just as a figurehead but as a fund raiser, a chair of meetings and a spokeswoman." This shows that she used her popularity for virtuous purposes.

Princess Diana

Diana, Princess of Wales was born in Britain, into the English upper class. Unlike other countries, Britain still has a royal family. In the late 1900s, its members were the matter of the big debate. Question is, "Should they stay remote from the people they ruled over or try to be more like them?" Should they keep to traditional ways or adopt a modern style of rule?" The life of Diana granted greatly to that debate.
Diana was a very open, outspoken, ordinary woman. Many were surprised how she was less private, in that time many people didn't tell their personal business or spoke their opinions. I know this because in the book it says, "Diana's style was emotional and outspoken. This pleased people who wanted the monarchy to appear more up to date. Others felt that by seeming so "ordinary," Diana lowered the royal family's dignity. This proves that she was all of what I stated and that people really were surprised and wanted to listen to her.

Lots of rest may not heal a concussion faster

As I read an article about head concussions on Newsela, I learn that more resting days won't help. Study shows that kids resting for longer days in a dark room complained of feeling worse. Even though, when you get a head concussion its important to rest your body and brain.  "We were startled that it was not making a difference," said Dr. Danny G. Doctors think that being kept out of school and away from friends made symptoms worse. They worried about homework and missed their friends. When they studied kids in a dark room for one or only two days, they had slowly returned to school and were moving around. One thing that is clear from the study is to never keep the injured person in a dark room for several days, Dr Collins said.

Yes I found this very interesting. What I found interesting about the article is how they said resting doesn't necessarily help, matter of fact longer resting days make you feel worse than resting for shorter days. Also, to be in a dark room for those days? Kinda strange in my opinion.  Like who would stay in a dark room for several days!? I wouldn't be able to do that. No T.V, no nothing with light.

Future of Us - Plot

Emma and Josh are best friends that grew up as neighbors. They would always run back and fourth to each others houses and do things ordinary kids would do such as, going outside, play together, chill out. As they got older, something awkward happened between them during the summer that caused a bit of distance between them. But things start to change once they get into something and they are back to being back and fourth.

The plot of The Future of Us I believe is how Emma tries to avoid the things on facebook about her future. I know this because in the book there's a part where on facebook it says she cooked mac and cheese for dinner but the next day or later that day when she went back on it had said she cooked something different from when she checked the following time. Also, she's starting to wanna change things around because she isn't loving the future she's reading about.

"The Future of Us " - Conflict and Theme

Emma and Josh are best friends that grew up as neighbors. They would always run back and fourth to each others houses and do things ordinary kids would do such as, going outside, play together, chill out. As they got older, something awkward happened between them during the summer that caused a bit of distance between them. But things start to change once they get into something and they are back to being back and fourth.

Overall in my book "The Future of Us", the conflicts that occur in the book give me thoughts on the theme. Its possible that the theme of my book is, "you never know weather you'll enjoy the future if you don't see what's coming your way." I think this because Emma never knew if she was going to like her future or not like it until she got onto Facebook and lurked. Now that she see's how her future is going to turn out she's trying to change it around so things in her future can change and she'll hopefully then like her future.

The Future of Us - Genre

In my book, The Future of Us the two main characters; Emma and Josh are childhood best friends. When they were younger they would run back and forth to each others house's since they were neighbors. Now at the age of 15, something accrued during the summer and that distanced them from hanging out and running back and forth from house to house. Emma gets a computer and Josh receives a CD-ROM disc in the mail. Josh goes over and asks Emma if he can insert it in her computer with her exception. Emma lets him proceed putting the disc in but in the following days that they have used the CD-ROM disc, they freak out about what has been discovered with their own eyes...

As a reader, I believe the book, "The Future of Us" is a realistic, futuristic fiction book. I think it's futuristic because once your in a couple chapters, they'll say and see future wise things. What I like about it is that they'll either freak out or be excited to see what's coming their way. The book is also realistic because it real stuff happening to real people in other words real life events. I love how the characters describe the feelings and events in details, it gets you seeing a visual.

Bangladesh Factory

The argument of this article is that the managers and security guards put many workers lives at risk. In the article it says, "In 2012 a Bangladesh factory caught on fire, killing 112 workers. As the fire started to spread, the managers and security guards told workers it was part of a regular drill and it was too late to escape. Workers noticed gates were locked from outside." I think that, that wasn't a good thing to do because those workers worked hard for them to have their lives at risk as a return for the hard work. What was upsetting that I learned overall from reading this article, is that people don't appreciate the hard work people put in for them and would still do cruel things to them.

The argument of this poem is that you lose yourself or hope working so hard in these sweatshops. In the poem it states, "My self is destroyed, I become a machine." The poem was different from the article because in the poem it provides up with visualization and feelings of the character. In the article it just gives us information about what happened and what people did but didn't express feelings. This did not form affect on my understanding of the poem.
